Essay: The Art of Being Compelling as a Product Manager

At the beginning of October, I got the chance to present my talk, The Art of Being Compelling, at INDUSTRY: The Product Conference, a premier product management conference that took place in Cleveland, Ohio. The 20-min video from this talk is now available online, so wanted to share it with all of you.

In this video I talk about how the most successful product managers spend 60% of their time on the substance of product management, and 40% of their time on the soft skills, or what I call the style of product management. And the highest leverage way I've found to become better at the style of product management is becoming great at making a compelling argument. I walk through what I call the elements of style of a compelling argument and share 6 specific strategies you can employ today for making a compelling argument to convince your design & engineering team, peer product managers, your boss, executive stakeholders, and more.
